In 1996, I started running in March, had my first 5k in May and ran the New York City Marathon in November.
I have not run farther than a mile in several years.
On Saturday I registered for a 5k in July, 2017. I have faith in myself that I will run it. I have six weeks to get ready for it. I am not going to measure the distance or the time as I run. I am simply going to continue going for a run. If I feel good, I'll go further. If it is a struggle, I'll walk some. I'm going to get ready without pushing myself.
I will be gentle with this older, heavier body. I hope to experience the beauty in every step like I did for those 26 miles over twenty years ago.
I might even run three times this week.
How are you making progress today?
